The RETURN
Hi y’all,
We’re starting training again this Thursday coming with Tristan from 6-8pm in the PESS building as per usual. Tristan has asked me that the people who were training last semester come in the 7-8 slot so we can begin training new members from scratch in the 6-7 slot, but this will begin in the second week. For this week everyone can come to either (or both) times as they wish.
Hope y’all had a good Christmas and a happy New Year!Mark
P.S. there are several competitions coming up soon and we need teams!Posted by mdnss69 at 12pm - Permalink

West of Ireland Competition
The West of Ireland Competition is on in Dangan, near NUIG on the 24th and 25th of October. The plan of action concocted so far is…
To take the 8.30 bus from Limerick to Galway and arrive before 11.45 (everyone get student cards!!!). Yep, an early Saturday morning. Expect your alarm to be set for 7.30…
At 11.30 the womens epee event kicks off. Aya is the only fencer for the womens team, with Caitlin, Katie and Nicola cheering her on (I suppose the lads better too, eh? :P )
After the competition, NUIG are hosting everyone for a dinner in a location yet to be disclosed.
Mark, Diarmuid and Anthony are competiting in the mens epee then on Sunday morning with the others either staying in bed with sore heads or cheering us on with sore heads.
And finally we all return home (or those who aren’t, don’t). Finale :)

Training
Hi once again to all, and a big hello to all new (and soon to be new) members to the University of Limerick fencing club. Training will begin (confirmed) on Thursday, the 17th of September. This will give people time to settle in on the first week back and then get into fencing on the second week. No equipment is required, just bring a pair of comfotable runners and tracksuit with you to training. Membership for the entire two semesters (which will include every training session and equipment is €5 for UL students (alumini and non-UL students should enquire to ulfencing@gmail.com). There are some minor changes to the training schedule as follows;
- Training times (with coach Tristan Paris) for beginners is on Thursdays 6-7 in the main sports hall of the PESS building (also called the Sports Building and National Coaching and Training Centre) Click here for map (number 19)
- Training times (with coach again) for intermediates and above is on Thursdays 7-8 in the main sports hall of the PESS building.
- Uncoached training is now on Tuesdays between 6-8 in the main sports hall of the PESS building.
I’ve added a few events and competions to the website (plenty more to come) along with a few other stuff here and there. We will also be having a stall up at the clubs and societies recruitment day on the 9th of September in the arena during orientation week so keep an eye out for us and feel free to come along and harass us!
Looking forward to seeing you all next semester!
Mark
